Qi

In the Traditional Chinese Medicine, all treatment methods are based on the concept of Qi- the basis of life energy, which includes everything that exists and the energy underlying each change. The qi is framed in a complex structure of yin and yang, meridians, seasons and the five elements.

Any disturbance in the internal balance of Qi can lead to symptoms and physical and mental conditions- in an acute or chronic manner.

Yin and Yang

Yin and yang are two opposing poles that complement and support each other.

The Yin that is represented as the "shady side of the hill" is associated with earth, night, femininity, absorption and cold.

On the other hand, the Yang associated with the "part of the hill illuminated by the sun" symbolizes heaven, day, masculinity, activity and fire.

Two opposites that complement each other can only exist in contrast to the other. If one of them is in excess or lacking, the treatment methods of Chinese medicine strive to achieve a new balance of the two opposites.
